Introduction

Inspired by the natural curves of a silver fern, this large side table lamp features arched timber accents and a hand painted finish.

The Whole Story

Inspired by the natural curves of a silver fern and ancient Maori legend, this large side table lamp features arched timber accents and a hand painted finish.
The Silver Fern lamp focuses on organic forms found in nature. Sweeping, laminated timber arches create a strong focal point while also supporting the practical elements of the lamp.
The painted treatment and colour speak to an old Maori legend about the silver fern. Once a part of the sea, the silver fern was asked by the Maori people to come to the forest and serve as a guide. The painted timber underside references the ferns silver underside, that when turned over would catch the moonlight and illuminate a path through the forest. The choice of blue was a nod to the ferns beginnings in the ocean. The light hanging within the timber fronds also represents the light emitted from the beloved silver fern.
